India Covid Cases News Live: Mumbai witnessed a sharp jump in new COVID-19 cases at 2,479 on Thursday, up by 831 from a day ago. Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 1,934 new Covid cases and zero death on Thursday, up from 928 cases a day before.

Daily Coronavirus infections breached the 1,000 mark in Tamil Nadu on Thursday and Chennai alone reported close to half that number.

At 745, daily covid cases also crossed 700 mark for the first time in West Bengal today after February 7.

Goa reports 151 new COVID-19 cases, zero death

Goa on Thursday reported 151 fresh cases of COVID-19, raising the overall count to 2,47,671, while no new death linked to the infection was registered in the state, the Health Department said. The death toll remained unchanged at 3,833, said the department in a bulletin. As many as 112 patients recovered from the disease during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 2,42,933, it said. The state now has 905 active cases, the bulletin said.

SW Monsoon to cover entire India by July 6: IMD

The Southwest Monsoon – crucial for the kharif crop – is likely to cover the entire country by July 6 as against the normal date of July 8, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday. The IMD normal says that the SW Monsoon normally covers the entire country by July 8.

Coronavirus: 114 new cases in Chhattisgarh, one death; active tally 632

Chhattisgarh on Thursday reported 114 COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 11,53,470, while the death toll increased by one to reach 14,036, an official said. The death toll has remained constant since June 8 this year, he said. The recovery count rose to 11,38,802 after five persons were discharged from hospitals and 61 people completed their home isolation during the day, leaving the state with 632 active cases.

India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Thursday said it will increase the prices of its motorcycles and scooters by up to Rs 3,000 per unit across the entire range effective from July 1. Hero MotoCorp said the “price revision has been necessitated to partially offset the steadily growing overall cost inflation, including commodity prices.”

Seven people lost their lives in the last 24 hours due to floods in Assam

Till now, 107 people have lost their lives (90 in flood & 17 in landslide), according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

“Over the last few days, parts of Assam have witnessed flooding due to heavy rainfall. Central Govt is continuously monitoring the situation in Assam and is working closely with the State Government to provide all possible assistance to overcome this challenge,” said PM Modi. He added, “Army and NDRF teams are present in the flood-affected areas. They are conducting evacuation operations and assisting those who are affected. The Air Force has conducted over 250 sorties as a part of the evacuation process”

Bengal logs 745 new COVID-19 cases

West Bengal on Thursday reported 745 fresh cases of COVID-19, pushing the tally in the state to 20,23,587, the health department said in a bulletin. The last time Bengal had reported over 700 cases in a day was on February 7, when the state logged 835 new infections.

Mumbai reports sharp rise in new coronavirus cases

Mumbai witnessed a sharp jump in new COVID-19 cases at 2,479 on Thursday, up by 831 from a day ago and the highest daily count since January 23, while one more patient succumbed to the infection, the city civic body said. The tally includes some backdated cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a bulletin. Significantly, the daily COVID-19 case count in the city has crossed the 2,000-mark after a three-day gap.

Daily COVID-19 cases breach 1,000 mark in Tamil Nadu

Daily Coronavirus infections breached the 1,000 mark in Tamil Nadu on Thursday and Chennai alone reported close to half that number. The State reported 1,063 fresh cases, while Chennai accounted for 497 infections today, taking the state tally to 34,64,131, according to a bulletin from the State Health department. A day ago, Tamil Nadu logged 771 new COVID-19 infections while Chennai saw 345 cases. The toll continued to remain at 38,026, as no fatalities were reported today also.

Telangana sees 494 new COVID-19 cases

Continuing the rise in COVID-19 cases, Telangana on Thursday recorded 494 fresh, pushing the tally to 7,97,632 till date. Hyderabad district reported the highest number of cases with 315. A Health Department bulletin said 126 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries till date was 7,90,473. The recovery rate slipped to 99.10 per cent.

The Delhi government has issued an order banning the entry of medium and heavy goods vehicles in the national capital from November to February in an effort to curb vehicular pollution, officials said on Thursday. Silver futures dropped by Rs 453 to Rs 60,195 per kilogram as participants cut their bets. 26.24% polling recorded till 1 pm in Rajinder Nagar by-poll: Official

Over 26% polling was recorded in the first six hours since voting began for the by-poll to the Rajinder Nagar assembly constituency, officials said. Telcoms may annually save Rs 5,400 crore in annual Spectrum Usage Charges payments

  • Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) may annually save around Rs 2,100 crore, Rs 2,300 crore, and Rs 1,000 crore respectively in spectrum usage charges (SUC) after the government removed the 3% floor rate on the statutory fee, analysts said.
